Life is about grabbing opportunities and that is what a group of local wedding specialist will be doing on Valentine’s Day when they open Blake Wedding Boutique!
The twenty-five members of The Wedding Industry Network will be opening a pop-up shop in the former Blake Gallery on Blake Street, York on the 14th February. The shop will showcase all the services that members of the network offer and visitors will be able to see examples of the 25 different businesses. And will be open daily until the 4th March.
Although there will be wedding supplies available to buy in the shop, the space will be dressed as a wedding venue, so that couples can experience what it would be like booking from these wedding specialists.
There will be a launch event on the 14th February between 10:00am and 12 noon, with a bridal party arriving by car shortly after 10.
Workshops, Live Music & Drop-In Sessions
To give visitors a taste of what the suppliers offer there will also be a series of workshops and drop-in sessions on offer over the 3 weeks. From an Artistic Sugar Work Demonstration to an Introduction to Magic, these workshops will be free, although a voluntary donation to BBC Radio York’s Good Night Sleep Appeal would be appreciated.
I’ll be performing live on Saturday 22nd February – get in touch for further details or feel free to drop in!
Weekly Prize Draw
People visiting the Boutique during its 20 days of opening will also be able to enter a weekly draw – there will be five prizes up for grabs each week, which will include photo shoots, jewellery, fascinators, cake vouchers, bouquets etc. Entry to this is free, but voluntary donations to the appeal will be welcome.
Exclusive Wedding Supplier Discounts
The Wedding Industry network was set up by photographer Nikki Bowling, who had experienced the power of networking as Director of Business Network International Knavesmire Chapter. She knew that she was frequently asked for recommendations of other wedding suppliers and saw the opportunity to benefit not only local suppliers via referral but also the couples by offering discounts.
Couples who buy directly from 3 or more of the Wedding Industry Network members will get a discount from each of the members. Full details of all the members and offers are on the website www.yorkweddingdeals.co.uk
Many of the suppliers run their own business, have part-time jobs AND families, but they have still found the time to set up and staff Blake Wedding Boutique for 3 weeks. The members include Smith & Downes Dressmakers who recently appeared on Good Morning Britain and the magician Tom Crosbie who was a hit on Channel 4’s Geeks aired in December. One of our venues also starred on TV over Christmas as St William’s College was a backdrop in Death Comes to Pemberley.
The Boutique will be open from 10:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday and 11pm to 4pm on Sundays.
Hope to see you there!
