This week I’m delighted to be involved in two fundraising efforts. This Friday I’ll be performing at the York Marriott Hotel for their exclusive pre-Christmas shopping evening….AND on Sunday evening I’ll be at the York Holiday Inn helping to raise funds for York High School’s amazing Team Tanzania project. Come and join us!
This Friday I’ll be performing at the York Marriott Hotel (click for directions). They are hosting a pre-Christmas shopping evening starting from 7:30pm, which includes specialist stall holders from across Yorkshire. There’s a fantastic array of prizes to be won in the Grand Raffle which will be drawn on the evening.
Entry is just £2.50 and includes a complimentary glass of mulled wine and a mince pie to get you into the Christmas mood. I’ll be playing music all night – Christmas tunes and more besides. Come down and place your requests! All proceeds will be donated to the Prince’s Trust.
On Sunday I’m thrilled to be taking part in York High School’s Team Tanzania fundraiser.
York High School has been partnered with schools in Korogwe in the Tanga region of Tanzania as part of an initiative run jointly by the British Council and the Youth Sports Trust for six years. These initiatives have aimed to develop leadership through sport and promote understanding and tolerance of different cultures through friendship and collaborative working. 7 teachers and 30 pupils from York Schools have visited Tanzania and 5 staff and 10 pupils from Tanzania have reciprocated. Nearly £80,000 has been raised over the last 5 years to pay for these exchanges.
The next trip in July 2013 will see York High pupils working on community projects alongside pupils from Korogwe such as tree planting, painting the school building and sharing cultural experience through drama and song.
As part of Sunday’s event you can bid to win two hours of live music from me on an event of your choice! Please do come down and show your support for this fantastic initiative. Doors open at 6:00pm at the Holiday Inn.
