Huge congratulations to Louise and Andrew Garvey, and a big thank you for inviting me to perform on your special day. Although I’ve played at the Merchant Adventurer’s Hall before, I’m always struck by what an incredible venue it is- one of the oldest and most prestigious buildings in York, built in the 14th Century.
Louise & Andrew had requested a selection of upbeat tracks to be played whilst their guests arrived and during the ceremony, including Coldplay’s ‘Clocks’, Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ and Elton John’s ‘Tiny Dancer’. Louise walked down the isle to the epic ‘One Day Like This’, and the happy couple strutted back down the isle together to an inspired choice: Stevie Wonder’s ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered‘. Thanks to both of you, as well as your guests, for letting me share your day, as well as the lovely message you left for my website:
Mark, what can we say… you were truly amazing! We wanted to say a huge thank you for playing at our wedding. You made it truly special for us throughout the ceremony and reception. You created the most perfect atmosphere. All our guests (and us) were totally blown away by you!
I also had a great week in August performing at the York Marriott Hotel during the Ebor race meeting. I played for four evenings at the hotel and it was as memorable a week as ever. My top moment had to go to Friday night’s encore – a bar full of people all singing along to Don McClean’s ‘American Pie’. Good times!
Check my Facebook page for more pics from Ebor Week as well as a short video of me performing Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’. Thanks to Matt for posting this!
